What is the Baggage Allowance for British Airways International Flights?

When you are preparing for the journey with British Airlines and packing your stuff for the flight, the utmost importance is to help with the baggage. The airline has some guidelines that you need to follow strictly so you can have a flight journey without any inconvenience or trouble. When it comes to international journeys, the baggage allowance and the restrictions become even a bit more strict, and the airline ensures that you do not make any mistakes to it. Therefore, it becomes necessary to be aware of the baggage policy and all the guidelines mentioned in it. We are going to discuss every important point of the policy so you will be informed accurately and not face any troubles. 

What is the baggage policy of British Airways?

Before you start packing the bags for the international flight, make sure you go through all the terms and conditions added to the policy. Once you are informed about the baggage allowance, packing the bags will be easy and quick. We have mentioned and discussed the policy below for your convenience: 

  • Checked Bags: This bag will be transported by the airline and will not remain with you in the cabin. You can pack things in this bag that will not be required during the journey:
    • The airline has five classes; no bags will be allowed on Economy Basic. 
    • One checked bag will be permitted with 23 kg weight when traveling in Economy. 
    • Premium Economy lets you carry two bags with 23 kg, and Business allows to 2 bags with 32 kg. 
    • If you are traveling in First Class then you can carry 3 bags with 32 kg. 
    • Make sure the bags are in good condition as the damaged bags will not be accepted at the time of check-in as it can affect other bags. 
    • Bags that are packed with ropes and wires will be rejected at the check-in counter. 
    • Make sure the bag's size should be within 90 x 75 x 43cm (35 x 30 x 17in) dimensions.
  • Carry-On: This is the hand luggage that you can keep with you in the cabin. Pack the items that will be needed during the journey:
    • The weight of the handbag is allowed up to 23 kg. 
    • The size of the hand bag should be within 40 x 30 x 15cm (16 x 12 x 6in) dimensions.
    • Make sure the bag follows the size instructions strictly, as the bag needs to be placed under the seat. 
  • Personal Items: With the hand luggage, you can have one personal item, and the list of these items has been listed below:
    • This personal item should be easy to handle and should not trouble you during the journey. 
    • Things such as laptops, cameras, binoculars, purses, backpacks, guitar or violin or any small musical instrument are counted in the personal items. 
    • The baby cot, blankets, or anything small and usable will be accepted as a personal item. 
  • Prohibited Items: There are some items that you will not be allowed to bring to the flight as this could be dangerous for your fellow passengers. The list of such items has been given:
    • Any item which could harm you and your fellow passengers in any way will not be allowed on the flight. 
    • You cannot bring any harmful gases and liquids to your handbag. Some alcohol or other medical-related liquids could be permitted with the checked bag. 
    • Any sharp objects, such as needles, knives, syringes, scissors, cutters, etc., are not permitted to bring to the flight. If you have any medical reason, then you need to inform the airline and get permission beforehand. 
    • Guns, batons, pistols, toy guns, or any other destructive objects are not permitted to be brought to the flight.
