How many hours before check-in on Singapore Airlines?

Singapore Airlines is known as one of the best airlines in the world and is known for providing exceptional service to its customers and passengers. These services include in-flight dining, entertainment, and in-flight cook service. If you are thinking of traveling with them in the near future, then you must know when to arrive to check in properly. This article is about Singapore Airlines passengers and will provide information and details about check-in with Singapore Airlines.

How and when to check in?

When flying with Singapore Airlines, there are three methods of check-in. The airline allows passengers to check in online through regular, auto, and auto check-ins. We will discuss each one individually.

Online Check-in

Online Check-in starts 48 hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight and will remain open until 1.5 hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight. Passengers can check the details and status from the Singapore Air website or mobile app, which provides them with the information and details they need. Passengers can retrieve the booking using their booking reference or the e-ticket number and last name. Information and details can be checked using the link in your check-in and travel remainder from your email and messages. It is a quick and convenient way of doing it, and also you can do it from anywhere and in advance between 48 and 1.5 hours before your flight departs.

Airport check-in

Airport check-in is the normal type of check-in, which can be done by visiting the airport. The Check-in starts 48 hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight, and this check-in counter closes 40 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the flight. If you have checked your baggage, then Singapore Airlines recommends you arrive 2.5 hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight. This time is suggested because it will allow you to go through security and the process smoothly. If you have not checked your baggage, then you are advised to visit at least 1.5 hours before the flight's departure time.

  • Kiosk Check-in: This allows passengers to check in as early as 24 hours before the flight's scheduled departure time. However, they must have a machine-readable passport and visa and a confirmed booking. It is a quick and easy process. All you have to do is follow the instructions that will appear on the screen.
  • Counter Check-in: Counter check-in starts 48 hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight and closes 40 minutes before the timings. According to Singapore Airlines, passengers are required to check in at least three hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight.

Auto Check-in

Passengers can relax and start their trip by turning on the auto check-in. This allows passengers to check in 48 hours before the flight actually departs. They will receive a check-in confirmation email confirming that they have checked in.

  • After turning on auto check-in: 48 hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight, passengers can check in and still manage the bookings as usual; they can select the seats in advance. You can change or select your meals, pre-purchase the additional baggage and luggage, and also change and upgrade your flight.
  • After you are automatically checked: Passengers can manage the check-in from 48 hours to 1.5 hours before the flight departs. Passengers can change their seas and also generate a digital boarding pass.

However, Auto Check-in is not available for group bookings, accompanied minors, passengers without a confirmed booking or have waitlisted flights, passengers who have booked extra seats, and passengers who have not checked in for the preceding flight.

Post Check-in process

After check-in, customers have to follow the following procedure:

  • Dropping off the checked baggage: Passengers will have to print their tags at the kiosk and attach them to their bags and luggage. After that, they had to drop them off at the automatic bag drop counter. If you only have carry-on or cabin baggage, then you can just move further.
  • Proceed to the boarding gate: The gate closes 15 minutes before the flight's scheduled departure time. Your boarding time will be printed on the boarding pass. You must have enough time to go through the screenings and security so that you will have enough time to make your way through the boarding gate.
