Wizz Air acknowledges that a myriad of situations can cause flight cancellation. Thus, the airline provides a different process and policies in a case for various reasons to initiate the refund, which can be seen as:

Voluntarily Cancellation Of a Flight By Passenger

You can cancel your Wizz Air flight reservation up to 3 hours before your scheduled flight timings with some cancellation fee, and your refund will get back to you in the following ways:

  • If the flight booking charges are higher than the cancellation charges, then the difference will be given back to you in the form of Wizz account owner in the form of Wizz Credit.
  • If the flight booking charges are lower then the cancellation charges, you have to pay only the Wizz Discount Club Benefits recovery fee.
  • If the flight booking and the cancellation charges are equal, then neither payment nor refund will be made.  

Cancellation of Flights By Wizz Air Or Flight Delayed by 5 or More Hours

Either your flight get cancelled or delayed by 5 hours or more, Wizz Air offers you many options to make it up to you, which can be seen as follows:

  • Accept a new schedule or alternative flight—Wizz Air offers you an alternative flight in case your original flight schedule is cancelled or you accept the new schedule in case of delay. If you accept this method, then no further procedure is necessary. 
  • Rebook your own flightWizz Air allows you to rebook another flight with them free of cost on the same or comparable route either within 14 days or 30 days after your originally scheduled departure date, provided a seat is available. 
  • Get a refund in your Wizz Air account- You can cancel your flight reservation altogether with Wizz Air and request a full fare refund in your Wizz Air account in the form of Wizz credits. 
  • Get a refund in your original form of paymentYou can even cancel your reservation with Wizz Air and ask for a full refund in the original payment form that you used to pay the airline while booking. The airline will then convert your Wizz credit amount to cash.

Cancellation by the Passenger due to the Death of a Family Member

If you have suffered from the death of immediate family members, including mother, father, sibling, husband, wife, common-law partner, grandparents, child, and grandchild, up to 30 days before the scheduled departure, then you can request a refund by submitting a claim via their official website. However, to receive a claim, you must submit the death certificate within 7 days of submitting the claim form.  

What is the Refund Processing Time and Status of Wizz Air?

Wizz Air doesn't want to create trouble for you and thus tries to process the refund promptly. Though, sometimes, due to some unexpected disruption, the time may take a longer bit, but it is a special circumstance and doesn't occur often. However, the processing time of the refund depends on the method of your payment and the reason for refund initiation, which can be seen as follows: 

  • If the airline causes the cancellation or delay, you will receive the Wizz Credit Refund within 48 hours. 
  • If you have submitted your refund via the claim form, you will receive a refund confirmation through your registered email, and your refund will be processed within 30 days.
